The Court of Session at Edinburgh had before it recently .a question of administration under tbo will of George Aitken, a Musselburgh farmer, who died in 1009, leaving £14,533. A provision of the will was that at least £SOOO wa s to he expended on a massive bronze equestrian statue, representing Aitken as champion at the Riding Musselburgh marches. He did not restrict the amount, and the best sculptor was to he obtained. A sum of £2O is to he expended annually on the upkeep.
