ENTERTAINMENTS.

PATHE PICTURES

The new series of moving pictures to be shown at His Majesty’s Theatre to-night is one which scintillates with all the latest features and novelties, and patrons, are assured of a programme of the usual high standard maintained bv the Pathe Company. .A three-thousand-fe'et Pathe drama, "Nick Winter and The Stolen Favorite’’ will head the list, and something surprisingly sensational is promised. A gang of criminals determine to steal the fleet filly Whirlwind, and the events which occur during its recapture, the detection of the thieves and the final victorious ride by Nick Winter himself complete a chain of the most exciting incidents conceivable. The picture is marked by the finish for which the £ „Pathe Company are famed, and must prove a popular number with the sporting public. Another big drama described as artistic and appealing is a Yitagraph drama, “Poet and Peasant.” An “Australian Gazette” will be shown, and a scenic, “In an Asbestos Quarry,” while the comic subjects will lie “Interrupted Wedding Bells,” “Looking for a Job,” and “Tweedledum and Friscot.”

OR ERA HOUSE PICTURES. The fine picture, “The Derelict’s Return,” caused a large number to congregate at the Opera. House last evening. The choir and organ accompaniment were exquisitely in tune with the subject. This class of item is undoubtedly an incentive to picture patrons to visit the pictures more often. To-night will see the exciting film, “The Corkscrew Gang,” screened— 2800 feet of the most exciting adventure that over hefel a detective oil modern days, the great escape over the telegraph wires being exceptionally dramatic. Mr Frank*May will introduce an Irish speciality which will make still another change in the entertainment, and also an illustrated song entitled “Ivillarney’s Silver Falls.” This is a strong urogram me, which should draw a good house.
