Mr. AY. O’Aloara- has decided to stand for a seat on the Council.

Air. Vidkerman, Inspecting Engineer for the Public Works Department, left for Wellington by the s.s. Takapuna last evening.

Air. Barry Coney, of Auckland, has Keen appointed musical judge of the Gisborne competitions, which are to be held in September next.

Lady Carroll, who has .been attending the native hui at Hastings, returned to Gisborne by the s.s. Takapuna yesterday morning.

Professor A fills is expected to arrive in Gisborne from Auckland on the 29th instant, in connection with the Unity Congress committee work.

Air. R. T. Sadd, Commissioner of Crown Lands, arrives by the Wimmera this morning, also Air. T. Hyde, a member of the Hawke’s Bay Land Board, and Air. J. Thompson," clerk.

Bull accompanied her husband on his last visit to Gisborn \ and was a guest ef the ltev. H. T. Bawnsley. of Patu-t-nhi, when she took suddenly ill. Dr. Se'tt was called in, and the lady was taken to the Gisborne Hospital, where she died two days after admission. The body was conveyed to Napier by the ferry steamer on Weone-day night. Aimch sympathy will be oxtendod to Air. Bull on the sad o curre nee.
