“NO MONEY TO MARRY WITH.”
SUICIDE OF MAN WITH- £750 A YEAR. At an inquest at Sheffield on John Hyson Wilkinson, a director of Messrs William Cooke and Co., wire rope manufacturers, who was found drowned in a pond at the works, two letters were read. In one he wrote:
“I have entirely lost my head through* getting married and cannot face the-consequences. Everything I have after my debts are ,paid I leave to my dear wife that was to be.” Ho was to have been married in Julv. . In the second letter- lie said:
“I find this morning, to my soul’s disgust, that I have not the money to marry with. I am- not- insane, but am committing the unpardonable sin of taking my own life.” ' It was stated that he met with a serious motor-cycle accident lately and that it might have affected his brain. He had a salary of £750 a year. A verdict of Suicide while Insane was returned. /
