A swarm of bees escaped f rom a box in which they 'had been conveyed to Baker Street Tube Station, from Hammersmith, and buzzed about the crowded platforms. Fortunately the electric lights attracted the greater number of them, but for some time there was much excitement among the passengers, particularly the ladies, and officials. Many of the bees were destroyed. One man who hailed from the country is said to have calmly picked up two handfuls of bees and to have put them in his pocket, exclaiming This is lucky ’ There were many thousands of bees in the box: but, fortunately;, the mjajoirity of them I were secured in time.
