RIFLE SHOOTING.
THE TRENTHAM MEETING . [pee peess association-.] TRENTHAM RANGE, Mar. 2. The Trentham rifle camp presented an animated appearance yesterday morning. Among the 325 competitions were ex-champions G. Hyde, R. J. King, W. S. King, Roots, Milroy, Ross and Duncan, also Rifleman James (champion of Wairarapa), and Moss (champion of Southland), as well as most of the best shots of Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago. Of the champions who have won laurels on the Trentham range only Ballinger, Ching, and Irvine were absent. The principal prize-winners were : Snap-sliooting, 300 yards, 7 shots: Mayhew (Feilchng) and Floyd (Tauranga), each 35, with six bull’s eyes, £3 10s each ; Evans (Wellington Suburbs) 35, with four bull’s-eyes, £2. Loop-hole Cover Match: McCalmo.ut (Opaki) 45, with one bull’s-eye, P\ , Melville (Waikato) 40, with one bull'seye, £2 10s i R. J- King (Opaki) PJ, with one bull’s-eye, £2 10s. Slow Practice Competition, 500 yards, figure target, 7 rounds, 1 shot exposure : Sliarland (Nelson) £4, 32; Gilschanan (Patea) £3, 32; Carey (Pa tea) £2 31 Rapid Shooting Match, 500 yarn's figure target, 10 rounds: Fellows (Karon) £4, 4.6 j. Facer (Port Chalmers) £3 44; Morgan (3rd Regiment), Russell (Petone), Caldwell (Karori), each £l, each 44. AUSTRALIAN TEAM FOR BISLEY. MELBOURNE, Mar. 2. As the £IOOO voted by the Federal Parliament towards sending a team to Bisley is insufficient to cover expenses, the Defenoe authorities decided that Australia be represented every second year. Probably a team will be sent this year.
