STEAMERS SEARCH FOR LOST BOATS.
[UNITED PBEBS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. ADEN, August 14. The steamer Fifeshire is ashore 20 miles south of Cape Guardafui. Tlis vessel is leaking badly. Seventy-five of the passengers and crew were landed at Aden. Two boats, with thirty souls aboard, are missing. A British transport is searching for them. The Fifeshire, which went ashore near Cape Guardafui, has been abandoned. The steamer is now under water. The captain was saved. The steamer Dolhousie and the Italian gunboat Volturna are searching for the two boatloads of people who are missing. Among them are two ladies. [The Fifeshire, a steel screw steamer of 5672 tons, was built at Glasgow in 1908 for the Elderslie S.S. Co. Her principal dimensions were: Length 420 feet; breadth, 54ft 7in; depth, 28ft Bin. The vessel was one of the Federal Houlder Shire line. Cape Guardafui is the most, extreme north-eastern point of Africa."] PASSENGERS FROM SYDNEY. HEAVY INSURANCE ON CARGO. (Received August 16, 12.55 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 15. ' The Fifeshire took twenty-three passengers and a large quantity of cargo from Sydney. The cargo was insured locally for between £20,000 and £30,000, the amount being distributed between many offices.
