VISIT TO EKETAHUNA. iphb press Association.! EKETAHUNA, August. 14. Mr. W. F. Massey, Leader of fthe Opposition accompanied by Mr. Nosworthy, M.P for Ashburton, was tendered a luncheon at Eketahuna to-day by a representative gathering. ' Mr. Nosworthy indicated that the policy of the Opposition, if returned, yvould be that of effecting reforms of the administration rather than* making new legislation. ' .| Mr. Massey said he yvas in favor of the Canadian system of audit and the giving to the people of the fullest particulars of every penny of public money spent. He also; dealt yvith other subjects on the lines of his recent speeches.

AN OUTSPOKEN RESOLUTION

PAHIATUA. August 14. Mr Massey addressed a meeting of oyer eight hundred people here to-night, his speech being on the lines of that delivered in Masterton on Saturday night. He quoted from a return dated September 30th, 1909, showing that at that date three million acres of native land yvere leased to Europeans. He condemned Maori landlordism., just as he did State or pakeha, landlordism, but the difference between pakeha and Maori landlordism was that the Maori paid no. rates and taxes. He traversed the Mo’kan land case, and criticised the constitution of tire committee to yvliioh it has been referred Nevertheless he would go on f an opportunity yvere given him of calling references ad making the evidence public. ' _ It yvas proposed by Mr. R. C. Elhngham, and seconded by Mr. C. Avery, that the meeting pass a hearty vote of thanks and confidence in the Leader of the* Opposition for the able and instructive address, and the declaration of his policy, and is clearly of opinion that the time has arrived yvhen.it is m the best interests of the Dominion that the Government should be turned out of office. . , , , The motion was carried by acc.amation yvith three or four dissentient y/oices. ... , ~ „„„„ Mr. Massey said the resolution was the most outspoken carried during his present campaign.
