The British Trade Commission in South Africa reports that monopolies and trusts threaten to bar the developmeut of the country. The prospects otherwise are satisfactory. There is an excellent opening for enterprising up-to-date manufacturers. , , New lork, Aug. 12. An American lead trust is being formed, with a capital of 10,000,000 pounds sterling, to control the output east of the Mississippi.
