Wages on Railway Works.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, last night. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce it was stated there were numerous complaints uhout the delay on the part of the Government in paying tor work done, and in consequence storekeepers could not get their money. The following resolution was carried : “ That owing to the number of complaints over the great delay in making payments by tho Government in Wellington for goods supplied and work done, this Chamber respectfully urges the Government to take immediate steps to expedite public works and other payments after accounts for same have been duly checked and passed by the proper authorities.”
