Welsh Miners Join Protest Strike
(10 a.m.) LONDON. July 5. Six hundred Welsh miners today joined the protest strike which was already costing 20,000 tons of coal daily on the Scottish coalfields where 59 pits employing 14,800 men are now idle. The Welsh strike began in the Rhondda Valley, the storm centre in past industrial disputes. Only one pit is so far affected.
