(P.A.) HAMILTON, June 24. | The Australian 20-year-old profes- j sional, Peter Thomson, won the chief event at the £7OO invitation Masters’ golf | tournament with case yesterday. He | was always in the lead and finished 10; strokes ahead of the nearest competitor | after four rounds of medal play. Following two 72’s on Thursday j Thomson did 71 in both rounds yester-1 day, giving him an aggregate of 286. D. I L. Woon, South Island amateur chain-! pion, with a well played 73 yesterday-; afternoon was runner-up with 296. | R. H. Glading who was second, seven J strokes behind at the end of the third j round slipped in the final round to a 79 and B. M. Silk finished four strokes ' ahead of him in the aggregate when he did a 74 for a total of 297. Alex Murray with a 73 and 76 yesterday finished witn a 299 which made him fourth. A score of 299 was the winning total when the New Zealand championships were held in Hamilton in 1937.
