ITALO-TURKISH FRIENDSHIP PACT

(11 a.m.) ROME, March 24. Italy and Turkey tonight signed a mutual friendship treaty, the latest in a series strengthening co-operation between the non-Communist Mediterranean countries.

Turkey’s Foreign Minister, M. Necmeddia Sadak, who signed with the Italian Foreign Minister, Count Sforza, said the treaty would “help greatly to reinforce peace and security in the Mediterranean.”

The treaty also covers commercial exchanges and certain judicial practices.

Before leaving for Istanbul, M. Sadak said that Turkey was interested in establishing a Mediterranean I’act similar to the Atlantic Pact.
