CURIOUS CROWDS WATCH BACKYARD GOLD SEARCHERS
MELBOURNE, March 23
Visitors continue to swarm into the township of Wedderburn to join local backyard prospectors in the frantic search for gold. Each shaft is surrounded by excited onlookers and prospectors say they are kept so busy answering questions that they have little time left to search for gold. _ , Mr. Albert Smith, whose find of a nugget worth £llOO was responsible for "starting the rush, yesterday unearthed another worth £25. Three other backyard miners have had strikes totalling about £4O.
