Leaders Of Sarawak Murder Gang Hanged

(10 a.m.) SINGAPORE, March 23. Two leaders of a nine-man gang which was convicted of abetting the murder of the Sarawak Governor. Mr. George Duncan Stewart, were hanged today in Kuching gaol. They were Awang Rambli and Bujang Bin . utong. The murder was committed last December when Mr. Stewart was visiting Sibu.

The other seven were also sentenced to death but the assessors had recommended mercy for them. They, accordingly, were sentenced to a term of imprisonment ranging from five to 15 years. Two Malays, who were convicted of the murder of the Governer, were hanged three weeks ago.
