Ministerial Survey Of Rail Route?

The proposal for a survey of the projected route for a rail link with Auckland was discussed informally between the Prime Minister, Mr. S. G. Holland, and one of the Gisborne delegates to the annual conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, Mr. C. 11. Cooper, during an interval in the conference proceedings in Blenheim this week.

On his return to Gisborne yesterday. Mr. Cooper said that Mr. Holland had referred favourably to the suggestion that the Minister of Works, Mr. W. S. Goosman, inspect the route between Matawai and Tancatua. “The Prime Minister also referred to the state of the country’s finances, but I feel quite hopeful in regard to an inspection of the route,” said Mr. Cooper.
