GISBORNE-COAST CROSSBRED LAMBS’ WOOL UP IN LONDON

(N.Z.P.A. — Reutor —Copyright.) LONDON, March 17

The market was again strong when the London wool sales were resumed today and the hardening tendency reported yesterday was fully confirmed. Another large selection of clips from Gisborne and the East Coast was fully cleared under the keen competition from the Home trade, with strong supDort from the Continent, but it was noticed that a few good-style lots of hoggets did not realise the extreme nrices paid during the last London series

Medium crossbreds, however, sold extremely well, while skirtings were in strong demand and slightly dearer than yesterday.

Good stvie lambs met increased competition especially from America and appreciated by 5 per cent during the dav's selling. Several consignments of off-sorts from Hawke's Bay and the East Coast that had been scoured on the growers’ account were sold to clothing manufacturers at very satisfactory prices, while among the scoured wools from the South Island. Merinos fetched up to 114Vd. and halfbreds up to 97)d.
