Mangapapa School Holds Successful Fancy Dress Ball

The annual fancy dress ball of the Mangapapa School was held in the Army Hall on Saturday afternoon and was an outstanding success.

Between 500 and GOO children and parents were present, the colourful costumes making a striking scene. Guests ol the children were the pupils of the Waimata and Wharekopae Schools, which have been “adopted” by the .Mangapapa School.

Displays of dancing were given by the children to music played by the Gisborne Home Guard Band and by one of 'he teachers, and a special afternoon tea was served by the ladies’ committee of the school.

The chairman of the Mangapapa School Committee. Mr. J. T. Hill, paid a tribute to the work of the teachers, led by the headmaster, Mr. H. C. Gibson, and the infant mistress, Miss E. G. Scott, to the ladies’ committee and parents generally for their assistance and to the band for offering its services.
