CZECH CATHOLICS DEFY GOVERNMENT BAN
LONDON. Aug. 14,
The Associated Press correspondent in Prague says the Roman Catholic Church conducted elaborate ceremonies at Trnnva today for the consecration of two new bishops.
Despite the ban by the authorities, which virtually stopped all methods of public transport' into the town, 6000 Roman Catholics saw the ceremonies. The church hierarchy in conducting the ceremonies defied the Government order that all church meetings and pilgrimages must obtain prior Government approval. The church did not submit the names of the new bishops for Government approval. Archbishop Josef Matocha consecrated Monsignor Ambrosius Lazik and Monsignor Robert Pobonzy.
