SENIOR RUGBY TITLE ISSUE BETWEEN MARIST AND CELTIC

With one series of games remaining, Saturday’s play in the senior Premier Cup competition of the P.B. Rugby Union left the Issue between Marist and Celtic, who have yet to meet. Unbeaten in the Premier Cup contest so far, Marist with six points hold a lead of one over Celtic.

The season's championship winners. H. 5.0.8.. who completed their cup engagements on Saturday, are at present on equal terms with Celtic in the runner-up position. In the junior division, Saturday’s games comprised the sixth of the nine series of tiie second round. The top team. Old Boys (A), were beaten for the second time by H. 5.0.8. (A), holding the runner-up position, four points below’ the leaders with a game in hand. Teams of the third grade completed the second round, the results leaving High School (Hi and Celtic as joint leaders with a margin of 11 points from High School (III). Prior to their reverse at the hands of Celtic on Saturday. High School (II) had won all competition engagements. The opening game in the fourth round of the fourth grade competition left High School (IV) with a comfortable leading margin over High School (V).

The fixtures of the fifth grade competition were completed on August 6 with the exception of one game, which, however, could not affect the lead established by Marist. Points credited in the respective divisions are as follows, Arabic figures in parentheses indicating the number of games played, and games won or lost by default being included as games played.
