FRESH MEAT RATION TO BE INCREASED

(N.Z.P. A.—Reuter —Copyright.) (11 a.m.) LONDON, May 16The Minister of Food, Mr. 3. Strachey, stated in the House of Commons today that stocks of carcase meat had increased sufficiently to enable the substitution of an additional 2d worth of carease meat for 2d worth of canned corned meat at present being issued. As from May 22 the weekly meat ration of Is Id worth would again consist entirely of carcase meat. Reuter says the reasons why the meat ration will be all carcase meat are that a little more meat has come from Australia and New Zealand, a quantity has been bought from the United States, the home killing position is better, fat cattle supplies from Ireland have increased and a small amount of pork has come from France.
