When a 44-gallon drum of tar rolled off a loading ramp and struck his head a child at Erua was killed on Saturday. He was
Thomas Patrick Kelly, aged four
years.
The boy, who was the son of Mr. Claude Kelly, manager of the Trunk Sawmilling Company, had been playing near where his father was repairing a motor-car. While his father was absent for a short time the drum of tar, which had been lying on the loading ramp, became dislodged and in falling severely crushed the boy’s head.
