(S.R.) HASTINGS, Aug. 31. The Northern Hawke's Bay Rabbit Board has decided to impose a fresh fiat rate of 4d an acre over its territory, it was decided at a special meeting of the board. The decision, made in accordance with ‘legal advice, is with the intention of enabling the good country in the board's area to ease the rating burden on the poorer country. At' a recent meeting the board decided to strike a rate of 3d an acre oit all land in its are awhich had a Government valuation of £3 an acre or under, and tid and acre on all land valued at £3 or over. Legal advice was obtained and the board was informed that it was not empowered to strike a differential rate.
