NEUTRAL FORCE OF 2500 NEEDED FOR JERUSALEM
(11 a.m.) LONDON. _ Aug. 3. An international force of 2500 men would be needed to enforce the demilitarisation of Jerusalem. if the Arabs and Jews accepted the idea, said Count Bcrnadotte, speaking in Jerusalem today. ... He conferred with the Jewish military Governor of Jerusalem, Dr. Bernard on the demilitarisation plan. Count Bcrnadotte then visited the Arab town of Ramallah, nine miles to the north where there are 25.000 Arab refugees He later flew to Alexandria. In Tel Aviv today an Israeli military spokesman alleged that the Egyptians broke the truce bv attempting to seize a hilltop near Asluj last night. The spokesman said the Esvntians called off the attack after United Nations' observers interceded. He added that the Israeli Government would formally accuse Britain of a truce breach in issuing electrical stores to the Egyptian Army.
