FEEDER SERVICE FOR GISBORNE AIR PASSENGERS
The fact that private and club planes are now able to use a portion of the Darton ' Field aerodrome with safety, and that a considerable portion of the aerodrome is in a condition for regular employment has been noted with especial interest by the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce, which some weeks ago was in communication with the Prime Minister, Mr. P. Fraser, with a view to having a feeder service established to link up with the main airline services at Napier. The following telegram has now been dispatched to Mr. Fraser by the president of the chamber, Mr. T. A. N. Corson: —
“Anxiously awaiting advice from National Airways regarding the fulfilment of the promise that a feeder air service would be instituted from Gisborne to Napier immediately the aerodrome was serviceable. “As Gisborne’s private planes are now using the airport satisfactorily, will appreciate you advising when service will be commenced and we would respectfully suggest that if the promised Dominies are not immediately available National Airways engage Gisborne Aero Club’s new four-seater Proctor plane, so that it can be run in conjunction with the main network, between Gisborne and Napier. “Very strong representations are being made to our chamber, and as our meeting is being held on Wednesday evening we will appreciate your telegraphed reply.”
