BIG BATTLE LOOMS IN NORTH CHINA

(10 a.m.) SHANGHAI, June 3. A large scale battle involving 300,000 men is imminent in the southern sector of the Tientsin-Pukow railway where both the Nationalists and Communists are pouring forces into North Iviangsu and the Shantung border area. The Communists have concentrated 150,000 troops north-west from the strategic Nationalist base of Hsuchow at the junction of the Lunghai and Tient-sin-Pukow line in North Kiangsu. Tlie Government is rushing crack mechanised arid infantry forces to the area.
