CORNWALL HCP.: VALLEY BOY NEAR BEST
FIRST DIVISION 002 VALLEY BOY (10), 9.6, has 61b. more than he won this same division with 12 months ago. His second at Te Rapa denotes that this great winter performer is somewhere near his best. 031 SYLIS (13), 9.1, won easly at Te Rapa and so must be hard to beat as the next best. -00 COWPER (ID. 8.8. has no recent form, but was third last season in this same heat with 9.4, so that on actual weight is a possibility. 002 BLACK ACE (4), 7.12, occasionally runs prominently, but his form is hard to keep tag on. He was second to Bedivere on May 22 at Waikato over a mile. 100 TAMAITI KINO (1), 7.9, has been disappointing of late. 000 FRONTIER MAC (2), 7.7, is one that might surprise as he has won
in soft going over a middle distance on the Ellerslie track earlier this season. 333 DOUBLE CHANCE (5), 7.6, should be all the better for recent racing and should now strip a much fitter horse; has been one of the favourites up north for some time. 211 PRINCE CHAT (3). 7.4, reads on form like a dangerous lightweight. 000 SILVER LIGHTING (9), 7.1, was third in the Second Division of this race with 7.3 12 months ago. 100 DISTRIBUTOR (6), 7.0, might be a place surprise. SECOND DIVISION 000 CITATION (8), 8.8. may start in the open sprint as so far 10 furlongs have proved beyond her. 143 CONSPIRACY (2), 8.5, will have a track to his liking and his recent form does not discount his chances.
201 BEDIVERE (5), 7.13, on his showings at Te Rapa must be one included in a final summing-up where the class is not as good perhaps as in the first heat. 340 lIONORA (3), 7.10, was second last year to Valley Boy with 31b. more on her back. She has been paid up in preference to Hot Pursuit so must be one to ponder over now. 003 WHITE BLAZE (12), 7.8, pops up now and then unexpectedly. 404 lIUNTORE (10), 7.6, is not a strong fancy. 000 OSTENTATIOUS (4). 7.5, has no recent form. 000 LORD BARWON (6), 7.4, is not reliable. Of those situated lower down the list, 004 LYN VAALS (ID, 7-0, and 000 OUR GOLD (1), 7.0, read about the pick.
