SAMPLE SWEDISH HOUSE IS BEING ERECTED
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. Feb. 27. i The sample Swedish prefabricated house brought to the Dominion re- ! cently is being- erected in Wellington. ; !f the assembly costs compare with New Zealand prices the Government may consider the importation of a substantial number. Most of the walls were erected yesterday, leaving the roof and interior walls to be finished. Assembly is made easy as all sections are numbered and fit together like a jig-saw puzzle. The houses are built on a solidwalled concrete foundation similar to most other ordinary built New Zealand houses. They are guaranteed for 70 .years in Sweden and should last for about 120 years in New Zealand’s milder climate. The timber used is very durable and many designs are available. Their main advantage is the speed with which they can be turned out from the factories and erected.
