FAMILY BENEFITS

CHILDREN OVER 16 YEARS WELLINGTON. Feb. 24Certificates signed by the head teachers of schools to the effect that children had enrolled for the current year would be accepted by the Social Security Commission in extending the family benefits for children over 16, said the Minister of Social Security, Mr. W. E. Parry. The Minister added that the late reopening of tiie schools this year had caused some confusion but it would be sufficient for the purpose of extending the family benefits if certificates were obtained from head teachers stating that children had enrolled as full-time punils. The certificates should be forwarded to the registrar of social security for the district, before February 28. The necessary forms could be obtained from any district office of the department. Prompt notification, would be a great help to the department.
