FIRST INNINGS WIN
RANGITIKEI BEATS FIJI (P.A.) WANGANUI. Feb. 26. Rangitikei won a first innings victory over the visiting Fijian cricket team in a two-day match played at Morton and concluded yesterday. Rangitikei had first use of the wicket and made 192, in reply to which Fiji compiled 143. In their second innings Rangitikei at stumps yesterday had compiled 52 for the loss of two wickets. The Fijians’ best batsman was H. Apted, who was caught and bowled by Finney at 44. Finney accomplished the rather remarkable bowling performance of seven wickets for 44 runs. R. G. Cakobau, Fiji, also did well with tiie ball, bowling 29 overs for seven maidens and taking seven wickets for 63 runs.
