REMARKABLE COLLAPSE MATAKAOA V. RUATORIA (Henilil Conuoiiondent.) A thoroughly enjoyable social and sports day was held at hicks Bay when me largest crowd yet seen at an interclub cricket match on the top end of tiie Coast witnessed a very close win for uratakaoa against Rualoria. The match, which was played on the hard wicket at the sports ground, was notable for a line bowling l'eat by H. P. Kangiuia. who look in Matakaoa's second innings nine wickets for 23 runs, the tenth man being run out. Towards the close of Ruatoria's final innings, when Kuatoria only wanted nine to win and had lour men still to bat, Matakaoa retrieved the situation in a remantabie manner.

The collapse occurred when the scoreboard snowed Matakaoa 139; Rua.oria, 131, and six down for 56. S. Dewes, who had taken tour wickets for 23 in the previous innings, capped H. P. Rangiuia's feat by taking three wickets in the one over, the wickets falling at seven tor 56, eight for 56, nine for 57 and 10 lor 57, leaving Ruatoria still with a deficit of seven. G. Tanrahori also bowled particularly well, taking live wickets for 49 runs, and two for six.

The highest scorers were R. Hale with 37 not out for Matakaoa, and H. P. Rangiuia .26 and S. Goldsmith 25 lor Rualoria, 1

At the luncheon adjournment the teams and their supporters were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. P. Herewini at their home.
