SUSPECTED BOMB FOUND IN
COLONIAL OFFICE LONDON, Feb. 23. Following a telephone warning to the Colonial Office’s research department by a voice with a foreign accent, Scotland Yard officers rushed to the building and discovered what was described as a time-bomb in the hall. The police removed a small box, the contents of which Home Office experts are examining. The building is opposite the Houses of Parliament. _ The box taken from the Colonial Office had a Jewish mark on it. The box was taken to Woolwich Arsenal for tests to ascertain whether the contraption could explode. 'Guards on all Government buildings were placed on the alert after the discovery of the box which contained two large dry cell batteries attached by wires to a glass jar containing fluid. A woman lift attendant discovered the box behind the door in the entrance hall.
