drawn will show you the idea. Make your "Crazy Line" thicker than the other part to distinguish it. This is not a competition, but .tust for your amusement, though the Mailman tells us he will be glad to see any that are scut in to him. OUR PETS’ CORNER BAXTAMS Bantams make amusing and often useful pets Nothing is prettier than to see these miniature poultry going about their business, the important cock shepherding his wives, as they busily scratch for food. Like many small creatures in this world, they have a great idea ol their own importance. There are various varieties, but they are all very quaint, especially those with the feathered legs. Bantam hens are the best mothers in the mltry world, they look after their chicks quietly and efficiently. The eggs, though small, are good eating, and how nice it is to be able to collect your own eggs and have them for brwkfasi The yolk of these small eggs is surprisingly large The best way to keep them in the ordinary back garden is to construct a portable wire netting frame in wnieh to enclose them during the daytime. This can be moved from place to place as required and the frame can be easily made to any convenient size by nailing together some 2in. x tin. battens. At night they can be trans fered to a small portable house fitted with a perch. This can be placed alongside and connected with the wire frame. They are not expensive to feed, as they are good foragers, and in addi tion can be given kitchen scraps such as waste vegetables, fruit, bread, and so on. This can be supplemented with such grain as is obtainable, and grit for the purpose of providing lime. It is very important that they should haye plenty of fresh water, because insufficient water will stop them eating so much food, and therefore they will not lay so many eggs. If the water is kept in a tin place n rough stone in the centre. This prevents the tin from upsetting and if any chicks should fall in they can clamber up the rough stone and get out. You can invent all sorts of gadgets with inverted bottles and dishes by means of which your stock have an ever fresh supply of water. So lots of luck to all our prospective poultry farmers.
