POST-GRADUATE MEDICAL

SCHOOL.— “It is by no means premature now to consider the establishment of a post-graduate medical school in Auckland, although it may be so to contemplate an undergraduate school here which would inevitably be in competition with tire excellent and long-established school in Dunedin and which would entail a prohibitive and expensive building programme,” states the superintend-cnt-in-chicf of the Auckland Hospital Board, Mr. H. Selwyn Kenrick, in a report to the board on the proposed appointment of the head of the laboratory services which it has been recommended should be extended. Mr. Kenrick suggested that a professor of pathology at such a school would be the best person to appoint as head of the extended laboratory services. He also suggested that after consultations with the Auckland University College Council the board should apply to the New Zealand University Senate for the establishment of a post-graduate medical school in Auckland. The Auckland Hospital Board will now consult with the Auckland University College Council in terms of Mr. Kenrick s report.
