Cl MARTYN, Auckland, was elected president of the New Zealand Institute of Opticians at the annual conference held in Wanaka. Mr. L. A. Not Icy, Wellington, was elected vicepresident. —P.A. MR. J. F. D. PATTERSON, Townlcy street, and Mr. John Sellman have lelt Gisborne to commence university courses. Mr. Patterson is commencing studies for his medical degree in Dunedin and Air. Sellman will do a science course in Christchurch. MR B. WILLIAMS, chairman, presided at yesterday's meeting of the Cook Hospital Board. Other members present were Mesdames B. R. -Scott and I. Kurzwoil. Messrs A. Trnft'ord, It. Cooper. 11. It. Dods. 11. 11. Barker. 11. J. F. Tombleson, J. II Hall, W. C. Kohn, and G. W. Armstrong. MISS MABEL HOWARD. Minister of Health, advised the Cook Hospital Board yesterday that she will not be able to visit Gisborne at an early date owing to pressure of business elsewhere. Miss Howard slated that she would advise the board later when she could meet the members in thsborne.
