Royal Gem won the Futurity Stakes 'brilliantly at Caulfield on Saturday. | Carrying 10.2, Royal Gem ran the seven • furlongs in 1.24 J, only a quarter of a • second outside the course record. On the rails before the home turn, Royal !Gem was edged back and to win he had to move to the outside and make his burst in the centre of the track.
