FASTER TRAINS TO WELLINGTON

(S.R.) WELLINGTON Feb. 24 The Railway Department has under consideration an improvemenl in the timetable of the GisborncWellington and Wellington-Gisborne expresses. There has been sufficient experience of the service to enable the department to ascertain where improvements in the way of speeding up can be effected, but changes in the running of long-distance trains involve many considerations, including connections with other trains. However, if the expresses car, arr’ve in Wellington in time to connect with the steamer express at 7.45 p.m. this would be a great advantage. All these points are under consideration, but the department is not yet in a position to announce its improved timetable.
