Disgust and disappointment were voiced to the Gisborne Herald on Saturday by a resident who on Friday was tempted to purchase a pineapple from a fruiterer. The pineapple cost 3s 6d and the purchaser indicated to the vendor some brown-looking patches on the side of the fruit, but was assured that it was all right- Yesterday the pineapple was cut open and for 3s 6d this Gisbornian was able to salvage only one slice. The rest was rotten to the core.
