PUBLIC SERVICE TALKS

INCREASE IN SALARIES (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Sept. 22. The adjustment of wages and salaries of the public service is under the consideration of the Government. The subject was discussed on Saturday with the Prime Minister, Mr P. Fraser, and the Minister of Finance, Mr W. Nash, by a large deputation representative of public service organisations, including those of the Railway Department.

This follows the Arbitration Court’s pronouncement providing for increases in the standard rates of approximately 3d per hour, or 10s for a 40-hour week, from October 1.
