POSTAGE STAMP DRIVE

Sir, —It is a number of years now since the last postage stamp drive was made' on behalf of any London hospitalTherefore I am venturing to start another for the benefit of the Great Ormande Street children’s hospital in the hope that it will be of a little assistance, especially to the poor children suffering from the effects of the war.

There was a sum of auout £SO raised in London from the proceeds of the previous drive, and that was clear profit. I personally do all the work attached to cleaning, drying and sorting the stamps before dispatch to LondonThis takes considerable time, and I find that about 40 per cent of the stamps sent in are useless through being dirty or damaged. As you know, there are hundreds of people who start stamp collecting only to give it up when the novelty wears off. Those are the people I want the appeal to reach, as well as anyone who has any unwanted stamps at all no matter what kind.

If they will just post them to me at my address I will willingly do the rest. I will forward you a copy of the acknowledgment when received from London.

J. CAMPBELL, P.O. Box 282, Dunedin
