Down 13 points to nil in the first 15 minutes, the Auckland representative Rugbv team later came to light with bright, open football to defeat Taranaki by 36 points to 16 at New Plymouth on Saturday before an attendance of nearly 10.000. , . ln The Auckland backs threw the ball about with complete abandon in the second half and boutsof swift passing comnletelv disorganised Taranaki, which lacked the speed, understanding and finish of the opposition. Tries for Auckland were scored by Boggs (2), Deas (2) Don and O Callaghan. O'Callaghan converted four tries and kicked two penalty goals. Bowden kicked a field goal.. Cameron (2) Potier and OCanol scored tries for Taranaki, O’Byrne converting two.
