FIFTH NOMINATION REP. MATCH FIXTURES EDUCATIONAL FILMS The nomination of a fifth team to take part in the senior competition was warmly welcomed by the executive of the Poverty Bay Football Association, at a meeting held on Wednesday evening. Tho nomination was forwarded by Mr. A. Sylvester on behalf of tho Kiwi-R.S.A. social committee, aiul it was stated that tho team would largely compriso members of the formerly popular Territorial club which took a prominent part in senior soccer competitions in 1939. Business placed beforo the meeting was of wider interest than usual, and the attendance was largo and enthusiastic, comprising Messrs. P. Bailey, patron, C. S. Bruce, executive chairman, J. McLean, W. Sintmonels, J. Taylor, B. Grayson, D. Elliott, J. Easton, W. Allen, V. Clements, D. McLean, A. Sylvester, J. Watt, Knowles, and It. Huxtable, hon. secretary. Tho treasurer, commenting on tho financial position of the association, stated that donations had boon received from Messrs. A. Bigncll and W. Pickett, those members being accorded a vote of thanks for their support. Fees duo to tho association were discussed and club delegates were asked to seek tho opinions of their players regarding a reversion to tho scale of foes levied in prewar seasons, viz.: Affiliation fees £1 Is per club, ground fees 5s per player, and registration fees Is per player. It was agreed that no fees whatsoever would be charged High School players. # Information concerning the Council oi Sport and Physical Welfare Branch. Department of Internal Affairs, was put before the meeting and a discussion on the functions of these two bodies resulted in a motion that tho secretary communicate with Mr. liO Bas, the district representative of the latter body, expressing the association’s appreciation of tho assistance received from his department. A proposal was made that a display of the association's trophies bo made to advance public interest in the game. This was agreed to and arrangements wore made to have tho trophies collected. Tho secretary reported that on a recent visit to Wellington ho had interviewed the secretaries of tho New Zealand and Wellington Football Associations, and was given much intcretsing data which he put before tho mooting. Decisions arising from a discussion on this material were that the new rules for the Brown Shield competition be obtained, that a large quantity of referees charts bo sent, for and that immediate application be made to the N.Z.F.A. for use of thr* educational films which are at present being circulated throughout the Dominion. It was explained that there were seven, films in tho sot and that these were obtainable for a week at a time. Arrangements are to bo made to have them screened at tho major schools in Gisborne. Tho Wellington association, Mr. Huxtable reported, was eager tor a return match for the ,T. T. Hill Shield. It was decided to leavo senior representative fixtures in abeyance for ono month. It was agreed, howliver that inquiries bo made at the rligli School regarding tho possibility of an mterdistrict High School game. Tho draw for games on Saturday, May 4. is- Eastern Union v. High School, on No. 1 ground, referee. Mr. D. Waugh; Wanderers v. R.S.A., on No. 2 ground, referee, Mr. W. Bury; Thistle, a bye.
