OBITUARY
MRS. JANET ATKIN
The death occurred yesterday at Gisborne of Mrs. Janet Atkin, a well-known and popular resident of the Ormond district for the past 19 years. Mrs. Atkin had enjoyed good health .until recently, but suffered a collapse a few days ago and failed to make a recovery. Born in Ayrshire, Scotland, Mrs) Atkin came to New Zealand 30 years ago. and was married at Bayview to Mr. John Atkin, coming to Gisborne shortly after her marriage. The family settled at Ormond, and gained many friends there. Mr. Atkin died two years ago.
Deep sympathy will be extended to the three daughters and one son of the late Mrs. Atkin, who are all in their early teens. They are the Misses Jean, Janet and Gweneth Atkin, and Master William Atkin. The funeral will take place on Saturday, following a service at Cochrane's chapel at 1 p.m. The burial will be at the Taruheru cemetery. MR. GEORGE CAMPBELL The death occurred at the Cook Hospital this morning of a well-known Gisborne farmer, Mr. George Campbell, at the age of 60 years. Born at Makauri and educated at the Makauri and Makaraka schools, Mr. Campbell had followed farming all his life until the last three months, when he had been in poor health. In 1914 he married Miss Dorothy Little, and he leaves his wife and two sisters and three brothers to mourn their loss. They are Mrs. W. Minns and Mrs. A. Gibbs, Makauri. Mr. J. Campbell. Ngatapo, Mr. C. Campbell, Hexton, and Mr. W. Campbell, Gisborne. A service will be held in Cochrane’s chapel at 2 p.m. to-morrow prior to the funeral leaving for the Taruheru cemetery.
