14 KILLED IN ALEXANDRIA RIOT
BRITISH SOLDIERS AMONG VICTIMS
POLICE AND TROOPS FIRE ON CROWDS
(Noon). LONDON, March 4 Two British soldiers are reported to be among' 14 people killed in clashes in Alexandria to-day in the first disorders in the Egyptian strike. Three British soldiers were gravely wounded. The total of the wounded is reported to be 300.
A crowd tried to break into the Atlantic Hotel which is used as a Royal Navy hostel. The police fired and dispersed the demonstrators.

All shops and businesses in Cairo closed to-day in observance of a general strike in mourning for the cyptian youths who were killed >n the rioting of February 21.
Egyptian troops and police opened fire against crowds stoning a British military post, at Alexandria. The crowd several times surged forward trying to break into the barracks. The crowd also attacked other military outposts.
The newspapers did not arpfeji and the State radio curtailed its broadcasts. The British-American Commis-
sion of Inquiry in Palestine postponed its sitting.
Firing still was heard from time to time this afternoon. Sympathy strikes
Thousands of police and roops tock up positions in the silent streets ready to deal with any disorders.
