CURB ON SPECULATION
U.S. STOCK EXCHANGE MARGIN VALUE RAISED (9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 18. The Federal Reserve Board raised its margin requirements for stock exchange trading to 100 per cent in a drastic move to check speculation and curb inflation. Henceforth, persons desiring to buy and sell listed securities must post 100 per cent of their market value with the stockbrokers. The margin requirement has been 75 per cent since last July when it was \raised from 50 per cent.
