LOCK-OUT NOW ENDED

ARGENTINE BUSINESS BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 17. The three-day nation-wide lock-out, which almost completely paralysed Argentina’s economic activities ended at midnight on Wednesday. The lockout was successful as could have been expected in view of the official pressure, especially on small shopkeepers, to stay open. It proved convincingly that Argentine employers are united against the present military Government. However, practical results are scarce since the Government still insists that the employers must comply with the decree providing for general wage increases and bonuses for the workers. The employers’ plan to test the constitutionality of the decree in court.
