PRICE GUARANTEE

AUSTRALIAN WHEAT STABILISATION PLAN CANBERRA, Jan. 18. The State Ministers for Agriculture have agreed in principle to the Commonwealth’s wheat stabilisation plan and are recommending the adoption of the plan to six State Premiers. The plan provides for a guaranteed export and home consumption price of 5/2 per bushel, the export price being guaranteed for five years by means of a stabilisation fund. The Commonwealth proposes that the industry should contribute to the fund CO per cent of the excess when the export prices exceed the guaranteed price. The State Ministers have asked for the proposal to be discussed again on the basis of a 50 per cent contribution.
