FEW DISMISSED

SERVICE APPEALS MOST CASES ADJOURNED

Sine die adjournments were granted in the majority of cases which came before the No. 7 Armed Forces Appeal Board at its sitting in Gisborne on Wednesday. Twenty-two cases were dealt with, and of these only four were dismissed, provision being made for three of the reservists not to be called before April 16. Appeals dismissed, with the names of the appellants in parentheses, were those in respect of Anthony Norman Beattie, faultman (Poverty Bay Elec-tric-Power Board), William Ronald JeiTares, linesman (same appellant), Reginald Ernest Searle, electrician (Director of National Service), all of whom are not to be called for service until April 16, and Laurence Walter McDonald, electrician (R. Dolman).

The board adjourned the following appeals sine die: William Norman East, cabinet-maker (Grundy and Scott, Limited); Graem Robert Black, farmer and manager <E. R. Black); Donald Robert Kerr, farmhand (R. Kerr, sen.): Maurice Harold Carter farmhand (Director); Ben Riki Pewhaerangi, shearer (Director); Parekura Oki Oki, farm labourer (Native Department); Jack Pohatu, farm manager (Director): John Manuel, shearer (Director): William Livingston, baker’s assistant (Chas. Mills): Raymond John G. Donald, shepherd and drover (reservist); Patrick M. Hills, farmhand (H. P. Hills); Sydney Frank, motor mechanic (Poverty Bay ElectricPower Board); Noel Rees Jones, electrical contractor (Clare and Jones, Limited.)

Adjournments to the first sitting of the board next month were made in the following cases:—Douglas Patrick Muriro, baker (T. M.
