EXPORT MARKETS

OPENING IN INDIA AUSTRALIA'S CHANCE (9 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Dec. 8. “A market could be built up in India which would be able, after the war, to absorb almost anything Australia could produce." This statement was made by Mr. Roy Goilan, Australian Trade Commissioner to India for the past 41 years, who has returned to Australia to confer with departmental heads and business executives. Australia should begin now to establish a postwar market for exports to India, he said. Already Australia had fulfilled orders worth £46,000,000 for all types cf goods needed for war. and additional large orders had been taken for delivery next year. On the civil side, Australian trade with India had increased more than 400 per cent since 1934.
