HUGE INCREASE MADE POWER AND MOBILITY (9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 7. Indicating one reason for the recent high losses of American bombers over Germany, United States Army Air Force officers estimated that between 12,000 and 13,000 flak guns guard the the targets raided by the Eighth Air Force, says the Herald-Tribune’s Washington correspondent. The German flak guns and crews are far superior to the Japanese, and about half are mounted on railway trucks, and can thus be shifted rapidly. The number of flak guns around me unspecified German target rose from 74 in July to 400 last week.
